About
Melanie Rebecca is an artist based in Hertfordshire working primarily in oil painting and drawing. Her work alludes to themes of loneliness and alienation centred around the female experience. Often an intersection of memory and fantasy, her paintings offer an imaginary space where emotion and fact become blurred and integrated. Her body of work explores the hypersensitive and acts as an aid for rejection and seclusion; existing as a space that is her own. Responding to poetic and scientific motifs; the natural world and the human experience, her work draws together the two complexities as comparison and personification. Botany and figuration become one, preserved in the varying textures and colours of painting.
